The CDMC (Cloud Data Management Capabilities) Framework is the world’s first best practices, assessment and certification framework for effectively managing data in the cloud and accelerating adoption of cloud and hybrid cloud ecosystems. It encompasses business, operation, and technology best practices for cloud data management. It incorporates standards and best practices for cloud, multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud implementations, incorporating automated key controls for managing and protecting sensitive data.

The CDMC Framework is composed of 6 components, 14 capabilities, and 37 sub-capabilities that allow companies to effectively manage their cloud environments. The 6 components covered in the CDMC are:
- Data governance and accountability
- Cataloguing and classification
- Data accessibility and usage
- Data protection and privacy
- Data lifecycle
- Technical architecture
The CDMC Framework
The framework was developed by EDM Council’s CDMC Workgroup which kicked off in May 2020. The group’s participation consisted of over 300 professionals representing 100 firms, including the world’s major cloud service providers (CSPs) plus leading cloud consumers, consultancies, technology firms and numerous corporations.
CDMC Certification & Badges
CDMC Certification is awarded upon completion of the CDMC curriculum plus successful passing of the online certification exam. The most efficient and cost-effective way to get CDMC certified is with one of our CDMC Packages listed below. We offer packages for new students and for students who want to earn CDMC along with CIMP or DCAM certification.
EDM Council issues digital badges for Certification to all students who complete the CDMC Framework training and pass the exam.
These credentials are a validated presentation of accomplishment, skill and quality. They are managed by a third party providing independent validation of the credentials. The recipient can display the badges in their CV, correspondence signature or on profile sites such as LinkedIn. EDM Council’s certification of CDMC is a well recognized credential in the cloud data management profession across multiple industries.
