George Williams is a multi-disciplinary professional with nearly 30 years of experience as a Data Analyst, GIS Analyst, Geoscientist, and Project Manager. He currently works as a Data Program Manager with a prominent Marketing Data Management & Analytics firm in Seattle, WA. He has an educational background in Earth Sciences and Hazardous Materials Management along with 15 years of experience managing Geo-technical & Environmental Engineering projects. During this 15 year period, George worked as an Geo-Environmental Engineering consultant for oil companies and land developers in California and later as Environmental Program Manager at The Boeing Company in Washington State. It is through his Geo-science education and work experience that he was introduced to the discipline of geographic data visualization, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), fate & transport modeling, and database technology.
As his interest in computing, GIS, and database technology began to grow, George became interested in applying these skills for commercial business applications. In the early 2000s, he supplemented his Earth Sciences background with an MBA in Information Technology Management (emphasizing relational database technology and quantitative analysis) and gained GIS and Project Management certification. Over the last 15 years, George has applied his skills with GIS, Database technology, Data Warehousing, SQL programming, and project management for Ventura County government, Boeing, J. D. Power & Associates, and Microsoft among other technology firms in California and Washington State.
George has been a board member with The Data Warehousing Institute's (TDWI) northwest chapter since 2011, and he continues to strive to build his expertise in both Business Intelligence and Location Intelligence and advocates for the increased use of GIS technology in the B.I. industry.
