K-Y Su

K-Y Su is a freelance locational data analyst with analytical experience in a variety of sectors and subjects, primarily nonprofit, and an interest in providing location intelligence services for business.

K-Y has performed GIS analysis for World Vision (he launched their US disaster preparedness/response program’s GIS capability), the Washington State Legislature and Department of Ecology, some environmental consulting firms, and several nonprofits and trade associations. Before discovering the problem-solving capability and sheer fun of GIS, K-Y started his career in the biochemistry field, then transitioned to environmental regulation and construction permitting, disciplines which developed multiple dimensions of his sense for research and asking useful questions. After his first exposure to GIS in environmental planning, he started applying GIS and locational thinking more broadly, such as a litigation support project involving historical business research.

K-Y has a BS in biochemistry and a certificate in GIS. He lives in the Seattle area but is originally from Baltimore and still cheers for his beloved Baltimore Orioles. He can be reached through LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com/in/kysu4gis , or at his website www.NowAmFoundGeo.com.
