Data stewards fill essential roles in managing data assets. They serve as leaders, managers, facilitators, problem solvers, and coaches to ensure that data is accessible, usable, protected, and trustworthy. Data strategy, data governance, data quality, data definition, and metadata management are among the important activities where data stewards are essential. To be effective, they must understand how data is created, stored, manipulated, and used. Acting as a bridge between business and technical stakeholders in data management requires knowledge of both domains.

The objective of this online course is to build a foundation of knowledge that is needed to succeed as a data steward. It covers fundamentals of data stewardship: who are the data stewards, what do they do, what are their responsibilities, and what are the key principles and practices of data stewardship. It also provides foundational knowledge about data and information management that is central to working as a data steward.

There was a lot of formative information in these series of lectures. The Pdf should have additional space for adding students notes from the lectures. I ended up using a separate notepad when made reviewing notes somewhat difficult.

It was good, I wish that there was a little more material from the speakers than just the words on the slide to keep me a bit more engaged, but otherwise good. Also, there were some Knowledge Checks that didn't line up with what part we were on.

The course content is comprehensive and very detailed. However, I would suggest including real-life examples for the topics covered. This would make the course more practical rather than purely theoretical.
