This exam tests knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, and terminology of quality management in general, and data quality management in particular.
You will be tested in these areas:
- Basic concepts, principles, and practices of quality management
- General quality management terminology
- Quality management methodologies, including Statistical Process Control, TQM, and Six Sigma, and related disciplines
- Quality measurement and standards
- Data-specific quality management terminology
- How quality management principles are applied to data
- Data quality dimensions
- Data quality processes, projects and techniques
- Role of people, organization, tools and technologies in data quality management
The exam consists of 25 carefully crafted questions of different kinds and degrees of difficulty. This removes the element of luck that is common in exams that consist entirely of multiple choice questions. You are required to complete the exam in one sitting in 50 minutes. You are allowed three attempts to achieve a passing score of 70%. Each attempt at an exam, however, will present you with a different set of questions than previous attempts.
The exam is intended to be quite challenging and requires reasonable mastery of the course material. We recommend that you take Data Quality Fundamentals course by Dave Wells and review it multiple times before taking the exam.
Once you pass the exam, you will receive a Certificate of Education documenting that you have demonstrated mastery of the topic. Further, the exam counts towards CIMP – IM Foundations, CIMP – Data Quality, and CIMP – Data Governance certification tracks, and can be used as an elective exam in any other CIMP track.
