This exam tests knowledge and understanding of basic concepts, principles, and terminology of the 14 disciplines comprising information management. You will be tested in these areas:
- The scope and objectives of various IM disciplines
- Basic concepts, principles, and practices of various IM disciplines
- General terminology of various IM disciplines
- The people, processes, and technology factors of various IM disciplines
- The dependencies between various IM disciplines
The exam consists of 30 carefully crafted questions of different kinds and degrees of difficulty. This removes the element of luck that is common in exams that consist entirely of multiple choice questions. You are required to complete the exam in one sitting in 60 minutes. You are allowed three attempts to achieve a passing score of 70%. Each attempt at an exam, however, will present you with a different set of questions than previous attempts.
The exam is intended to be quite challenging and requires reasonable mastery of the course material. We recommend that you take Information Management Fundamentals course by Dave Wells and review it multiple times before taking the exam.
Once you pass the exam, you will receive a Certificate of Education documenting that you have demonstrated mastery of the topic. Further, the exam is required for CIMP – IM Foundations certification track. Click here to learn more about CIMP.
