Data governance is a relatively young discipline that is in many respects still developing. The Data Governance Institute defines data governance as "a system of decision rights and accountabilities for information-related processes." Once the domain of administrators and stewards, data management takes on new organizational dimensions with a shift to data governance. Multiple roles include data owners, data stewards, and data specialists with a growing trend toward appointing data executives β the Chief Data Officer, for example. Moving from administration to governance has implications for all aspects of data management including cost, value, quality, security, privacy, regulatory compliance, and maturity of data management practices.
CIMP - Data Governance specialization builds upon education to certify knowledge and understanding of data governance processes demonstrated by passing several challenging exams. Each exam is aligned with the material in one of the courses in eLearningCurve's Data Governance curriculum taught by industry leaders, such as Sid Adelman, Mike Brackett, John Ladley, Theresa Kushner, Maria Villar, and Dave Wells.
To obtain CIMP - Data Governance designation you must pass 5 exams: Data Governance Fundamentals exam, 3 other exams within the Data Governance track, and one additional exam from any CIMP track. You are allowed three attempts to achieve a passing score on each exam. Each attempt, however, will present you with a different set of questions than previous attempts.
To start the process, submit CIMP Data Governance Application. The cost of application is $150. Please also see our CIMP Data Governance Package, which includes everything you need to complete your certification at a package-price savings!
